#Zman_Eilat – as a special project meant to aid bands and musicians at the time of Covid restrictions – Southern Productions combined forces with the Municipality of Eilat and the Eilat Tourism Corporation, helped promising Israeli artists from across israel, as Covid stopped the process of their professional exposure, and gave them a stage and a livelihood during these hard times.
In the months of July and August, a colourful festival area was formed, and live show events were held twice a week, which included music performances by artists selected for the project, in different musical styles, on a stage set up in the complex. The exhibition ‘Eilat Time’ in the artists’ gallery, the Eilat brewery beer bar, and of course the colourful musical fountain shows.
Mosh Ben Ari
& Quarter of Africa
The joint project of Mosh Ben Ari (Sheva, solo) and the “Quarter of Africa” ensemble began with one simple collab show at “Amphi Shuni”. The successful performance and the resulting natural artistic connection led to a series of performances at the “Goldstar Sound System festival” where “Quarter to Africa” musical producer Yakir sasson rearranged Mosh’s biggest hits to a new and groovy arrangements for a serious of sellout shows.
T.V “Iron Dome” theme song
Quarter to Africa joined forces with israel’s top tv channel “Keshet 12” as the theme song of the hit series “Kipat barzel” (Iron Dome).
The song “Gam ki elech” built on a deep and thick African Grove and use the Lyrics of “Psalms”.
The song was taken to the 2 seasons of the series and received hugh ratings.
“Kaan” broadcasting network theme song
a special project and collaboration for the grand opening of the Israeli broadcast corporation “Kaan”.
The song “new beginning” was produced as the official theme song for all the radio channels of the new corporation.
A groovy arrangement of “Quarter to Africa” and the acclaimed singer Eliad Nahum for a bouncing and fun remake version for the alltime fav’ song .
"Japan-Israel Cultural Bridge" project (ministry of foreign affair)
A special collaboration between the Israeli Embassy in Japan and the most popular Radio in japan (JWAVE), as a major release for the “Japan-Israel Cultural Bridge” project, “Southern” was asked to produce 2 new versions of the well-known Folk-song “Mayim Mayim” (Israeli folk song that is extremely known in Japan) .
2 new arrangements were made: an ethno funk version my Quarter to Africa, and an ethno rock version by Yossi Sassi and the Oriental Rock Orchestra, featuring the guitar legend Marty Friedman (ex Megadeth).
